The Wardens’ beloved multi-sensory performance – blending stories, songs and images – rises from the land they protect as national park rangers. With haunting three-part harmonies, the band’s acoustic mountain music reflects Canada’s protected wilderness areas. Celebrating the return of wild buffalo, lonely nights on the packtrail and reflecting on an environment in crisis, their performance has been dubbed, “the quintessential mountain-culture concert experience.”
Following the 2021 release of their third full-length album, band member Ray Schmidt was nominated “Traditional Singer of the Year” by the Canadian Folk Music Awards. The band was also recently nominated as “2022 Touring Artist of the Year” by the BC Touring Council. Entering their second decade of performance, the Canadian Rockies trio have added Alberta’s Scott Duncan to the line-up – Canada’s finest western fiddler. The Wardens have performed from Alaska to California and shared the stage with Ian Tyson.
