Classic Albums Live – Recreating classic albums live on stage – Note for Note, Cut for Cut.

The Beatles – Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band

Sgt. Pepper is 50 years old!

For many of us, we don’t know a world without it. Pepper was the album that defined the Beatles as being in it for the long game. It was as though everyone suddenly came to the realization that the Beatles were a big part of the fabric of the 20th century.

We all know the hits off the album – “When I’m Sixty Four”, “A Day in the Life” and “With a Little Help From My Friends.” But upon continual listen – it’s the deep tracks that become more and more compelling. George Harrison’s “Within Without You” was like adding a new spice to your diet. “Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!” sounds like you’re taking a trip. And “She’s Leaving Home” brought old and young together and prepared them for change.

Every detail of the album will be performed with precision and grace. From the sitars and orchestra to the guitars and kazoos, Classic Albums Live will deliver a performance that brings 50 years of Beatles’ excellence to thousands of people who grew up alongside the Sgt. Pepper masterpiece.

Lougheed Centre presents Tim Tamashiro

THE RAT PACK… A CELEBRATION OF FRIENDSHIP. THE SONGS. THE STORIES. In Las Vegas, Nevada during the 1960’s, there once lived three of the most handsome, funny and talented entertainers in the world. They could do anything they dreamed up. They were as naughty as they wanted to be and they had the world wrapped around their fingers. Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. lived their lives like kings. They shared unique and very special friendships because of it. To the world, it looked like the fellas lived a non-stop cycle of highballs and hangovers. But in reality, they faced many tough situations.

Former CBC Radio Host Tim Tamashiro brings a new approach to the stories of swinging Las Vegas with his new show, When You’re Smiling. He’ll tell you all about the special friendships of “The Summit”. You’ll hear the crazy stories and enjoy the songs of the three most talented rascals to ever put on tuxedos. Tim promises great songs, cold drinks and bad jokes.

Lougheed Centre presents VC2 Cello Duo

BEETHOVEN REBOOTED

For most, the name Beethoven conjures a great symphonic work, a piano sonata, even a choral symphony—but is there a connection with the cello? Indeed, Beethoven’s five sonatas are at the core of the cello repertoire and serve as the springboard for Canadian cello duo, VC2. Their program, Beethoven’s Cellists, provides a snapshot of the cello repertoire—historic and new compositions—with ties to the great composer. VC2’s Bryan Holt and Amahl Arulanandam introduce their own arrangements of works by Beethoven, including Ludwig’s cello colleagues Duport, Kraft, and Romberg. These works are intertwined with five commissioned pieces by Canadian composers, again inspired by Beethoven’s cello sonatas. Spanning genres and with influences from jazz to contemporary, and even hints of the rock world, VC2’s program will showcase the diverse future of virtuosic music for cello duo.
