What is Alberta Showcase?
Performing artists need live audiences. Presenters need artists for their audiences. Presenters do not always have the opportunity to see artists from other parts of the province or the country. That’s where Alberta Showcase comes in.
Each year Alberta Showcase brings together presenters, performers and promoters for one jam-packed weekend of live performance, networking, and professional development. This explosive event allows presenters and promoters to see performances before they book the artists.
Over 40 artists will perform excerpts of their best work in a variety of settings throughout the weekend. You will have the opportunity to meet these artists in our Exhibition Hall, a trade fair where business and art mingle. Come join us for a weekend that will fuel your excitement for the performing arts in Alberta. #ABShowcase
Performing Arts Canada:
Alberta Showcase App
Developed by Favequest, the Performing Arts Canada app is your guide to showcases across the country. The app (available through Google Play and in the App Store) includes key information for the following conferences: Alberta Showcase, CAPACOA, Contact East, Manitoba Showcase, OSAC, Ontario Contact, and Pacific Contact
The Performing Arts Canada app is your conference guide and includes: Conference Schedule; Showcase Artists’ bios, photos and contact information; List of Exhibitors; Delegate Connect, ATAA Member Events, Arts Touring Alliance Twitter & Facebook; And, so much more!
The Exhibition Hall is the trade show of Alberta Showcase, and a great opportunity for artists, agents and presenters to network. After each Showcase, meet in the Exhibition Hall to discuss upcoming performances, touring plans and block bookings. All artists at Showcase 2019 will be represented in the Exhibition Hall.
We are keenly aware that artists are coming to Showcase at great personal expense. The relationship between presenters and artist needs to be honest and direct. Many presenters did not like completing the feedback forms, but many artists feel that they miss the feedback. To solve this we are recruiting a team of presenters for each Showcase – who will be responsible for capturing comments and notes for the artists – both positive and negative. Welcome Orientation &
Professional Development Workshops
Every year the Arts Touring Alliance likes to start Alberta Showcase off with a Welcome Orientation for new delegates hosted by our Board of Directors. It is a great way to break the ice, meet your fellow delegates, and learn a little bit about the Arts Touring Alliance and the staff members who work for the organization.
We break it up with a brief intermission to officially open Registration, then dive right into the Professional Development Workshops. They are a little different each year as we address the different challenges and concerns effecting the Performance Arts Touring Industry.
