Skip Taylor

Guest speaker: Performing Arts Coordinator, Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils

Skip’s start in the music business began in the late ’80s promoting punk rock shows in Regina. After attending music college, Skip ended up working record retail in Regina and Calgary for a few years before moving back to Saskatchewan to be the Universal Music Promotion Representative for Saskatchewan from 1995 to 2010. There he was responsible for promoting, marketing, securing publicity, and radio play for the entire Universal Music roster in our province, including both Canadian and International artists. For the last 10 years Skip has been the Performing Arts Coordinator at OSAC. In this role he helps the organization and its members book over 170 performances in the province each year. Skip attends many showcase events each year including Contact East, Pacific Contact and the ECMAs and routinely sees over 100 showcases a year. Christine Hanson

Guest speaker: Artist/Composer

Music has taken Christine from touring Canada’s High Arctic with a tango trio, to playing traditional music in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland.

While classically trained, Christine in her many roles – cellist, composer and sound designer – is eclectic in her musical explorations. Her experiences include compositional commissions, arranging, studio work, theatre, television, film, composition, and performing as an ensemble musician.

Hanson’s original compositions are featured in her compelling multi-media production ‘The Cremation of Sam McGee’, takes the audience in tandem across the snowy landscape on a magical journey! She is also an experienced instructor, teaching professional master classes, and workshops on both sides of the Atlantic.

Christine was nominated for a 2020 Western Canadian Music Award as instrumentalist of the year, and was presented with CBC’s Galaxie Award for Best New Artist at Canada’s Junofest 2006!

Christine Hanson performed at Alberta Showcase in 2018 and was part of the jury that evaluated the artist submissions in 2019. She is no stranger to the process and to all of the success it can lead to.
