The Songs and Stories of a Canadian Soldier in Rwanda

2019 is the 25th anniversary of the tragic Rwandan genocide. As a young army captain in the summer of 1994, Tim Isberg was deployed for an one year mission to Rwanda as an unarmed UN Military Observer. It was his first of many tours of duty, but one that would change his life forever.

Tim is now an accomplished Alberta singer-songwriter who has emerged in the scene after a lengthy hiatus from music to serve in the Canadian Army. From Rwanda to Afghanistan, Tim experienced the many challenges of living among different cultures and conflicts, and amid the best and worst humanity had to offer.

A truly personal show! With Rwanda as the back drop, Tim has prepared a powerful performance combining a cascade of photographs, genuine stories and live music. A show that is neither historical nor political in nature, Tim will share a very personal account of his experiences in Rwanda and songs it inspired.

A wonderful story-teller, Tim brings well crafted songs to the stage. Along with and appealing vocal timbre, his words and music will share the emotional highs and lows of his unique experiences in such a way for each listener to feel connected.
