The Rooster Davis Group is based on the piano traditions of New Orleans; a fun, danceable mix of blues, jazz, and New Orleans folk, heavily influenced by the likes of Dr. John, Allan Toussaint, Professor Longhair, and Harry Connick Jr. Rooster’s music has all the bounce and drive the music of New Orleans is known for, and is as much fun for the audience as it is for the musicians to play.
Joe Nolan’s distinctive and intimate vocals stack the deck. He delivers bandaged fragility and raw rage with equal impact. The songs are fervent, pressing and intense, attuned at once to the world of youthful melodramas in which Joe, an artist in his early 20s lives, and an older, deeper level of human experience. Insight into the latter has nothing to do with age.
