Rott’n Dan and the Lightnin’ Child
Rott’n Dan and the Lightnin’ Child is an acoustic duo focusing on Pre-War, Piedmont and Country Blues. You may recognize Dan from his well-known local band, Boogie Patrol, and you don’t want to miss him in this stripped-down setting!
Rott’n Dan and the Lightnin’ Child pay homage to such greats as Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, Robert Johnson, Blind Boy Fuller and Mississippi John Hurt, to name a few. For all those with a hankering for some old-timey roots music that’ll take you to the front porch and caress you like a warm southern breeze, this is for you!
“outstanding young artist ,the clarity of Maddie’s voice could very well be drifting out of a Greenwich Village folk club in the early 60’s. Maddie’s songs are political and deeply empathetic.”

With a background as a spoken-word poet, she possesses striking nuance and depth in her lyrics. That poignant lyricism, emotive finger picking, and a honeyed, impassioned voice seek to tell us a story, to move us, and to touch a fragile part of the human spirit. Active and enthusiastic member of the Edmonton music community, this 23-year-old artist released her debut LP The Old Brag Of My Heart to a sold-out crowd.
