Block Booking

Block-Booking is a tool available to all ATAA members in good standing, who are involved in presenting. It is a presenter-driven activity, which relies on active participation. Collaboration increases our ability to bring artists to the province, making it financially viable for artists and presenters.

Presenters determine which artists they’re interested in pursuing for shows. The Tour Coordinator streamlines the actual booking process, taking the expressed interests of the presenters and attempting to coordinate tours on their behalf. The online Arts Touring Connector is the means by which the Tour Coordinator processes tour requests and gets tours to the contract stage

The Online Tool

The Arts Touring Connector allows you to see information about artists (dates they are touring, asking fee, tech rider) and put in your requests to be added to tours. It is where chats will take place between interested Participating Members, where the Letter of Intent is reviewed and approved, and where the bulk of the “business” of getting an idea to fruition will take place.

Account Creation

Agents, Artists, and Presenters can have an account, and view information directly applicable to them. To request access to the ATC, send an email to our Tour Coordinator, Brandi Watson at

The Conversation

Presenters browse existing artist suggestions or suggest someone they think their colleagues would like. They express interest in an artist by adding them to their wishlist.

Artists who self-represent or Agents provide up-to-date information such as riders, available touring dates.

A tour is eligible to become a block-book when there are three or more Participating Members interested in the same artist.

A Letter of Intent is created and sent to the Artist’s Representative when the Presenters have decided on dates and offers.

A tour is booked and confirmed when all parties agree, and the Presenter and Artist’s Representative move to signing individual contracts.

Commission is paid by the Presenter to the Arts Touring Alliance of Alberta upon completion of a block-booked tour.
