The Arts Touring Alliance of Alberta announces the cancellation of Alberta Showcase 2020 due to growing concerns about COVID-19. The event was slated to take place October 23 – 25 at the Dow Centennial Centre in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.
“It is with the greatest regret, that we announce our decision to cancel Alberta Showcase 2020. This cancellation came after careful consideration of the guidelines issued by the Government of Canada, and Alberta Health Services. Too much is unknown, however, and the ATAA Board expects that in the fall we will probably still have social distancing and caps on gathering numbers.
Because Alberta Showcase attracts delegates from across Canada and beyond, it brings with it the additional challenge of organizing travel for our attendees without knowing whether national or provincial borders will be open.
We know everyone looks forward to meeting in October, however it is of utmost importance to keep our members and artists safe and slow the spread of COVID-19.”

Our Showcase jury is evaluating the 2020 artist applications as per usual, as we are working on ideas on how to connect those chosen artists to our presenters.
Town Hall meetings have been set up to connect with our members in each of the four zones to hear and discuss what situations the arts touring industry is facing and how we might navigate uncertain waters of presenting.
We look forward to seeing you all at our 2021 conference held on October 22 – 24 in Fort Saskatchewan.
Stay Safe!
