Gianetta Baril has had a distinguished solo career for over 30 years, consistently receiving glowing praise for her charming presence, dramatic artistry and spectacular technique. Originally from Edmonton, studies took her to Toronto and then to France to work with the Master Pierre Jamet. In the mid-80’s, Gianetta moved to Germany where she lived for 16 years, concertizing throughout Europe, including both Poland and Czechoslovakia prior to the fall of the Iron Curtain.
A very active performer, Gianetta collaborates regularly with many musical groups like the Foothills Brass, Bok Brass and Looking Glass Duo as well as with Luminous Voices, and as soloist with the Red Deer Symphony and Edmonton Symphony. With Storymusic Creations, an ensemble founded to perform stories alongside classical masterpieces for very young children, she has most recently been playing for immigrant children in various locales in Calgary thanks to the support of the National Arts Centre.
